Caltrain Determines Future Bike Car Design
Almost two years ago, our work and your voices convinced the Caltrain Joint Powers Board to increase future bike capacity with train electrification (due for 2021). Caltrain has now selected a final car design for the future train sets, and the agency's goals to increase human and bike capacity will be met with an increased number of trains per hour. SVBC Sends Joint Comment Letter for Dumbarton Study
SVBC collaborated with eleven other organizations on a joint comment letter on the Dumbarton Corridor Study, submitted on Friday, Sept. 29 feasibility study. This letter was a follow-up to our coalition letter back in April and in addition to meetings with SamTrans staff over the past couple months as well as two community forums that we co-hosted. We will continue to share our support for a multi-use trail with decisionmakers until the study goes back to the SamTrans Board later this year.
Bike Share Explodes in the Bay Area
Bike share has officially exploded with not one but at least six bike share companies offering their services and competing for city and individual customers throughout the Bay Area. Read on for an overview of the types of bike share available and the status of our area’s cities.
Update: Redwood City El Camino Real Corridor Plan
Redwood City is preparing to wrap up the El Camino Real Corridor Plan process by the end of the year. The draft plan, which will include protected bike lanes on El Camino Real, is expected to be released at the end of September and we encourage you to submit comments in support. Locals in San Mateo Lead Successful Bike Ride
On the morning of Saturday, August 19, SVBC and local riders proved that bicycling is alive and thriving in the City of San Mateo! San Mateo Cool Citizens Adam Loraine and Carol Steinfeld, among others, led a diverse group of families, riding enthusiasts, and casual riders on an easy 6-mile ride around the city. The ride highlighted local routes in San Mateo as well as the one-year old bike share program.
