Rolling Together: ACE and SVBC Celebrate Bike Month with Bikes on Board
May is Bike Month, and that means more people are taking a fresh look at how they get around—whether it’s for commuting, errands, or just getting outside. ACE and the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) are teaming up to celebrate riders who are already doing something pretty simple, yet powerful: combining biking and transit.
On ACE, we see it every day—riders rolling their bikes on board with ease, commuting across counties, or finding new ways to explore their cities. For SVBC, that kind of trip speaks directly to the work we’ve done for years: making it safer and more accessible for everyone to ride, wherever they live and however far they’re going.
Bikes Belong on ACE
Every ACE train includes a dedicated bike car, outfitted with 14 vertical bike stalls and two more on the lower level. Just keep an eye out for the “bike car” sign before boarding. It’s designed specifically for people who want to ride before and after their train trip. No extra hassle, no special ticket, and no guessing if there’ll be room—just show up and roll on.
This kind of flexibility opens up new opportunities for people who don’t live next to a station or who work a few miles from the stop. It’s not just about skipping traffic or saving on gas. It’s about taking back control of your time, your route, and your day.
Ride the Route, Explore More
ACE runs weekdays between Stockton and San Jose, with special event service on select weekends. And there’s a lot to see along the way—especially if you bring your bike. Here are some trip ideas below!
Pleasanton → Iron Horse Trail
Hop off at the Pleasanton Station and ride a short 5 minutes west via Owens Drive to connect with the Iron Horse Trail near Hacienda Drive. This paved, multi-use path runs north-south for over 30 miles through Dublin, San Ramon, and beyond.
San Jose Diridon → Guadalupe River Trail
Exit the train at San Jose Diridon Station and head north on Montgomery Street. Within five minutes, you’ll reach trail access points behind the SAP Center, connecting you to a scenic ride along the Guadalupe River through parks, downtown San Jose, and out to Alviso.
Great America → San Tomas Aquino Trail
From the Great America Station, follow Lafayette Street south for about 6 minutes, then turn onto Tasman Drive where you’ll find a clearly marked entrance to the San Tomas Aquino Trail. This well-maintained path follows the creek through Santa Clara and links up with the Bay Trail.
Even a short ride on either end of your trip can add a new rhythm to your routine!
Why SVBC Cares
SVBC works across the region to make biking a real transportation option for more people. That means fighting for safer streets, better infrastructure, and policies that support biking not just as recreation—but as a daily, practical, joyful part of life. We know how important it is to get connected with where you want to go, and to do it safely.
Partnering with ACE just makes sense. The more options people have to safely combine biking with transit, the more doors we open. And during Bike Month, it’s especially meaningful to highlight riders who are already making those connections every day.
Clarrissa Cabansagan, Executive Director of the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, shared: “As a lifelong Bay Area transit rider, combining biking with transit has transformed my commute—it’s faster, more convenient, and the best part is arriving at the office joyfully by bike. I get to work with less stress and more time to focus, while choosing the environmentally sustainable option.”
