Wheels & Waterways Four-Ride Series Grand Finale
Between 2021-2025, SVBC and the Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water), partnered to bring hundreds of people out for group bike rides to learn about, experience, and beautify (remove litter) from 30 miles of Santa Clara County’s waterways and creek trails.
The scope of work for the “Wheels & Waterways” project was detailed and ambitious.
Invite community partners to co-host bike ride events - to grow our coalition of partners and allies for environmental and societal health and safe transportation infrastructure.
Train cohorts of Group Ride Leaders - to develop trusted leaders able to keep novice riders supported and comfortable while using bikes for safe, reliable transportation
Curate routes to bring riders on bike rides in various geographies of Santa Clara County - to broaden the community of riders who use bikes for safe, affordable, reliable access to the outdoors
Pass the mic and make a space for environmental subject matter experts to share knowledge about Santa Clara County’s waterways and the environment
Activate on-the-ground efforts for environmental impact - host events for riders to access trails and remove pollutants and litter from Santa Clara County Creek Trails
Our final rides were a rapid-fire series of four rides in March and April of 2025 - four more chances to visit scenic East SJ parks and trails on an out-and-back route from Berryessa Transit Center to Alum Rock Park and back.
If you were a rider, co-host, subject matter expert, or ride leader trainee -thank you for the role you played in one of SVBC’s most ambitious group rides programs to date!
