Ready, Set, Recruit!

Much like a bike, Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition is people-powered.

Think of riding your favorite bike. Even if it has a motor, it relies on you to pedal and keep it moving forward. The bike does its job, but it can’t do it without you.

SVBC relies on you, too. Whether you take the time to volunteer on a weekend, never miss your membership fee, or just read our newsletter, SVBC relies on you to keep moving the bike movement forward.

And with more people, we have more power. That’s where you come in.This spring, SVBC is holding a membership drive. There are three ways to participate:

  1. Recruit new members. When your friends join SVBC, ask them to list you as the person who referred them. They can sign up using this link.

  2. Give the gift of membership. You can gift a membership to start someone’s journey as a bike advocate. Gift a membership using this link!

  3. Volunteer to sign up new members on Bike to Work Day as a Bike Ambassador. Email Jessica at jessica@bikesiliconvalley.org for more information.

The biggest impact of bigger membership is greater advocating power. A large membership gives SVBC more clout in conversations with elected officials and gets SVBC advocates taken seriously when they demand change or offer support. It also builds a more connected local bike movement.

Recruiting more members is the best way to help you and other cyclists be safer on the road. But as a token of appreciation, for every member you recruit or give a membership to, you and that friend will be entered into a prize drawing. The more members you bring in, the more chances you have to win! Most importantly, the more members you bring in, the more power SVBC has to get work done in your community!

It’s a win-win: you can share a non-profit you love with the people you love, and you get a chance to win a prize!

The membership drive starts… now! From now until May 31, any members you bring in will count towards your total. Ready, set, recruit!
