SVBC Member Survey Results

In 2019 SVBC put out a survey to all members, and it’s time to share what staff learned! We want to know more about the kind folks who donate to us, how we can be the best bicycle coalition ever, and if we’re on track to reach our goal of seeing 10% of trips taken by bike by 2025.

Here's what we learned:

We asked what areas you would like to see SVBC focus on, and we love hearing your ideas. Some people suggested things we’re actually already working on - click here to view current initiatives. Have an idea that’s specific to your city? Join a Local Team and help guide our policy decisions. We rely on you to advance bike advocacy. With that being said, here are some of the responses we received:

  • Equity and connecting networks like El Camino Real (a current campaign!)

  • Traffic signal detection

  • Bikes on Caltrain (also a current campaign)

  • Cleaning and maintaining existing bikeways

  • Growing membership (always ongoing!)

Speaking of growing membership, we also asked current members what staff can do to better engage SVBC members. Here’s what we heard:

  • Folks like receiving action alert emails telling them to come to a city council meeting or write to an elected official.

  • People want more volunteer opportunities in more cities.

  • Bicyclists want more group and social rides. (Want to lead some of these rides? Keep an eye on our blog so you know when we’re hosting ride leader training)

  • People want to get better connected with people near them. Check out SVBC Local Teams!

We also had an open comments section, which brought smiles to the faces of our staff. Here are some of our favorite comments:

  • Thanks for what you do. It’s hard work.

  • Keep doing what you’re doing. Thanks for advocating for the bike!

  • Keep Vision Zero happening.

  • You are all great.

  • Big kudos to you on recent focus on diversity and inclusion. Keep it up!

Thank you to everyone who filled out our survey. We appreciate your input and will use all this information to help us grow and better serve you. We look forward to your answers to the 2021 Member Survey!
