A scenic Saturday in Palo Alto

Behelmeted bicyclists check out the Patrick Dougherty piece on the lawn of Palo Alto Arts Center.

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of joining volunteer Janet Lafleur's Art Lovers' City Cruise and Picnic at the Stanford Rodin Garden. Essentially, it was a public art tour by bike through the scenic roads of Menlo Park, East Palo Alto, and Palo Alto. Along the way, we stopped to see the Palo Alto Arts Center, the public art of California Avenue, and finally the Rodin Garden at Stanford's Cantor Art Museum. We picnicked at the final spot and all got to know each other a bit.

It was a beautiful day and a fun ride. I got to see some parts of the mid-Peninsula that I only know through letters, reports, and plans. Most of all, I got to enjoy a casual ride with SVBC members. Ironically, working for a bicycle coalition leaves me very little time and few opportunities to actually ride my bike. Thanks, Janet, for inviting us out!
