SVBC’s Seventh Annual Dinner was wonderfully successful – thanks to the support of our sponsors, local clubs, industry leaders, and – of course – all of our wonderful guests.

The evening kicked off with the reception – featuring a live band, passed wine, and a silent auction – on the lovely Crowne Plaza patio. The silent auction included items ranging from camping gear to bikes. We can’t thank our donors enough!

Guests then made their way into the ballroom to enjoy an elegant meal followed by our live auction. Bidders enthusiastically competed for a BMC Teammachine, Ritchey Breakaway, Santa Cruz Tallboy, private ride with Bob Roll, Transportation Dinner, Tuscan getaway, and Trek Travel trip for two.

Carl Guardino and Shiloh Ballard kept things lively as they led the paddle raise. Thanks to everyone who helped make the paddle raise wildly successful – we were overwhelmed by the show of support. The funds raised will go towards supporting our Safe and Comfortable Freeway Crossings Initiative.

The Ellen Fletcher Volunteer Award went to the glowing, passionate Candice Stein. Candice’s work with SVBC includes letting us use her Caltrain tag prototype and distribute the tags to 1,000 to train riders. Additionally, she organizes community rides that show how fun, easy, and accessible biking truly is. Her work has been invaluable!

The 2014 Corporate Cycling Award was given to KLA-Tencor, a company that is an avid proponent of bicycling and takes other Silicon Valley workplaces to task each year in the Team Bike Challenge, which its teams have won twice.

Bruce Hildenbrand, Bob Roll, and Jim Ochowicz took the stage to conclude the evening. Guests lit up with the hilarious stories exchanged.
