Advocate for the Vital Construction Taxes that Keep San Jose Safe

I'm reaching out to share an exciting opportunity to advocate for the essential construction taxes that fund the critical improvements making San Jose a safer place for everyone. Construction taxes are the lifeblood of our city's transportation initiatives, supporting everything from the Vision Zero program to local matching funds for grants, and enabling a wide range of activities by dedicated staff.

These taxes have become indispensable for our city's progress. They finance the vital infrastructure and safety projects that protect bicyclists, pedestrians, and drivers alike. Without this crucial funding, many of the projects that make our streets safer and more efficient would be at risk.

As we face potential cuts to construction taxes, it's imperative that we advocate for maintaining these funds or finding alternative revenue sources to backfill any reductions. Our city's safety and continued improvement depend on it.

Join us  at City Hall on June 18th in championing the construction taxes that keep San Jose moving forward. Together, we can ensure that our city remains a leader in safe, innovative, and effective transportation solutions.

Talking Points ↓↓↓

Talking Points:

1. My name is _____ with SVBC, I am a resident of the district___.

2. Approving an ordinance waiving the Building and Structure Construction Tax and the Commercial Residential-Mobile home Park Building Tax would take away from funds to DOT that provide the critical improvements that make San Jose a safer place for everyone and protect bicyclists, pedestrians, and drivers alike. It's imperative that we maintain these funds or find alternative revenue sources to backfill any reductions. Our city's safety and continued improvement depend on it.
