Thank you to Jeff, Phil, and Peter!
As SVBC enters the holiday season, we have many reasons to be thankful. Specifically, we want to take a moment to thank three of SVBC’s long time board members who have chosen to step off the board, Phil Brotherton, Jeff Selzer and Peter Ingram.
Jeff has been a long time supporter of SVBC in his role as the General Manager of Palo Alto Bicycles. He’s been SVBC’s industry ear to the ground, providing connections, insights, and guidance as well as valuable hook-ups to raise money for the organization. For the past few years, he has contemplated stepping off the Board but succumbed to intense arm twisting. After almost 20 years on the Board, the time finally came.
Phil joined the organization through his role with NetApp, providing a for-profit mentality as an avid recreational cyclist. His business connections have helped the organization grow its corporate revenue stream and his experience in management has been an asset to SVBC.
Then there’s Peter, SVBC’s Board Chair. I first met with Peter over lunch when I myself was on the Board. The goal was to convince him to become a Board member as well. Amongst other things, we viewed his background as a former city manager and understanding of land use, transportation and government as something we needed on the Board. He said yes. In addition to his expertise in government, we also got a kind-hearted individual with a wonderful coaching style that helped SVBC be more thoughtful about its work.
Thank you to these three wonderful individuals for their service in helping SVBC grow and transition into a more effective organization.
And, for those of you who are members (meaning you donate at least $35 every year to the organization) don’t forget to vote for the slate of Board prospects. You should have received an email about that. You can also vote using the old school method of paper at the member party.
