Annual Dinner 2019 in Review
Thank you to those who came to the SVBC Annual Dinner on October 12! It was so inspiring to come together as a community to celebrate all we’ve accomplished over the past year and rededicate ourselves to making sure Silicon Valley kids continue to have the opportunity to grow into our next generation of biking advocates.
The evening started in the courtyard at the Crowne Plaza in Palo Alto, with fierce bidding on amazing silent auction items like Ortlieb backpacks, pottery classes, tours of ghost towns and breweries, and plenty of other fun experiences. Our biggest crowd yet gathered to enjoy each other’s company and celebrate bicycle advocacy.
Attendees headed into the ballroom for dinner, drinks, and the live auction. Bidding for live auction items was extremely competitive. Folks fought for items like for a trip to Hawaii and a week in Santa Barbara. Ultimately, we were blown away by the generosity of our guests – and their eagerness to get in on the prizes!
Following the live auction, attendees agreed that listening to the conversation with Assemblymember David Chiu and pro-cyclist Seana Hogan was inspiring and educational. Plus, chatting at a table with your fellow SVBC supporter and bicycle advocate is the best type of fun.
Of course, the evening was only made possible by our amazing group of volunteers – thank you to the volunteers who helped guests, set up auction items, and took care of every little detail from bike parking to item check out.
Overall, the dinner raised over $175,000 and we couldn’t be more grateful for all of your support. You are the reason we’re able to work for better bicycling each and every day.
Pictures from the event are here (taken by Knarl Stuart: must be logged into Facebook to view) and are a lovely testament to the fun and joy of the evening. Feel free to download, post, and share and don’t forget to tag us on Facebook @BikeSiliconValley and on Twitter @bikesv.
And if you missed the Dinner, try not to feel too left out – there’s always next year.
Thank you again for all you’re doing to make biking safe and accessible for all!
