Quakes meet bikes
One of the services we provide here at SVBC is valet bike parking. SVBC does this because one of the top barriers to riding a bike for every day use is the fear of theft.Festivals, concerts, venues hire us to take your bike, watch over it while you play, and then give it back when you’re ready to go home. If you’ve ridden your bike to an event at Levi’s for example, you’ve likely parked your bike with SVBC. Whether it’s Beyonce or the Niners, we’re parking bikes at every event hosted by Levi’s Stadium. (Thank you Levi’s for recognizing the importance of getting cars off the streets and paying SVBC to provide safe and secure bike parking. On average SVBC parks just shy of 200 bikes per game.)Major events like football games generate a whole lot of traffic. That’s why SVBC has been going to stadiums in Silicon Valley to suggest that they use their clout to get fans bicycling. Years ago, SVBC approached Avaya Stadium, home of the Earthquakes. They were very interested but a bit hamstrung by all the construction that has been underway. Now that construction is in the final stretch and the Caltrain tunnel opened up, the Quakes approached SVBC to pilot bike parking. We’re thrilled that they want to give it a go and hope they’ll be convinced that they should keep it up. So, we call upon you, bicyclists who are also soccer fans…ride to the game this Saturday, July 28th. Spread the word to your friends who have season tickets and encourage them to ride to the game.
