We Couldn't Pick Just One: BCOY Honorable Mentions

As Bike To Work Day approaches, we have even more awesome bike commuters we’d like to honor! You’ve already met our Bicycle Commuter of the Year, Molly Clancy, but we had so many wonderful nominations this year we had a difficult time narrowing down just one awesome commuter. As a result, we have two incredible honorable mention Bicycle Commuters of the Year: Seetha Narayanan and Stasia Curcio. As thanks for their awesome work encouraging others to ride, they’re invited to our Bike Away From Work Bash and will receive official SVBC jerseys.Seetha is a computer scientist at Adobe Systems who has been commuting by bike for over 20 years. He was nominated by his colleagues who were amazed at his devotion to bike commuting and positive attitude. Here’s what he has to say about bike commuting:“I work for Adobe Systems and have been a bike commuter for the past 21+ years. My commute is 10.6 miles each way. I avoid riding only on days where it is pouring rain in the mornings (I take my chances in the evenings as I could go home and clean up). I don’t go to gym and love the outdoors. In my opinion, the stationary bike is the least interesting thing one could ride. We are truly blessed to be living in paradise where you could ride year around. I feel guilty on the days I don’t ride to work. My commute takes anywhere between 38 minutes (hit all the signals with a healthy tailwind) and 50 minutes but 45 is the average.”Our other honorable mention is Stasia. Stasia is a mother of two boys, ages 4 and 6, and has incorporated bicycling into her family’s lifestyle. Stasia and her husband started by hauling their kids behind them in trailers, but the boys are now old enough to learn how to ride. Her family loves exploring the Bay Area together on two wheels. Here’s what Stasia has to say about bike commuting:“There are so many reasons I love commuting by bike! I take my kids to school on it each day and we get to spend time together exploring beautiful trails and new routes. We blast music on a speaker and love singing along. The kids enjoy the fresh air, counting cars, and spotting interesting things. I feel God’s presence and love when I’m outside, it recharges my soul.”Endless thanks to our BCOY honorable mentions and all the good work they do!
