Thanks as always to Laura Smith for this update from the Campbell Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. Want to share news from your BPAC, BAC, or Complete Streets Committee with SVBC’s readers? Send an email to submissions@bikesiliconvalley.org with your latest news and we’ll publish it!Campbell Avenue Portals Project: The project is really moving along now. Daylight can be seen at both ends of each portal. Construction is still on track to be completed by August 2015. This project is going to vastly enhance the safety of both pedestrians and cyclists using Campbell Avenue.Hacienda Avenue Improvement Project: Work was delayed first by the weather in late 2014 and later by the presence of underground cobblestones. The good news is that the project is still to be completed this summer.Virginia Avenue Sidewalk Project: The project received federal environmental clearance and in February, City staff requested authorization from Caltrans to proceed with the construction phrase. It's possible that construction could start this summer.Harriet/McCoy/San Tomas Aquino Signalization Project: The staff awarded the contract for the topographic survey. Their design will serve as the groundwork for the project.Potential Sharrow Locations: There was much discussion about using sharrows and where to put them. Potential locations were based on proximity to parks, schools, and other existing bikeways. Some of the street segments included: Virginia Avenue, Budd Avenue, Chapman Drive, East and West Hacienda Avenue and East Rincon Avenue. Several street segments, Eden Avenue and McCoy Avenue, would require input from City to San Jose. More on this project as information is gathered.
