Sign up for the Drive Less Challenge

Drive Less Challenge 2010 is an innovative web-based project that reduces the number of single-occupant car trips on the Peninsula. Participants can pre-register now at www.drivelesschallenge.com, while the Challenge period itself begins Earth Day, April 22 and ends May 5th.

During those two weeks participants explore alternatives to solo car use - biking, walking, public transit and/or carpooling while going to and from work, school, shopping or other local destinations. They log each day's transportation details on the game-like website, comparing and sharing their achievements with friends, neighbors and co-workers.

Anyone can participate but residents and workers in this year's four sponsoring cities - Burlingame, Menlo Park, Mountain View and Palo Alto - are also eligible to win prizes donated by their local merchants. Everyone is invited to a celebration event at Kepler's Books and Magazines, 1010 El Camino Real, Menlo Park on May 7th at 7:30 PM.

Sign up today, then have fun reducing car congestion and our collective carbon footprint. Further information at jvwalmsley@gmail.com.
