Los Altos Police protect and serve cycling citizenry

The SVBC tip line has been has been burning up lately with bicyclists' kudos for the Los Altos Police Department.

On March 1, just before 4:00 pm, a local cyclist had two bikes stolen out of his garage. He quickly sent out a plea for help to local friends. Not long after, he received word that the LAPD had busted the perps and recovered his bikes by 6:20 that same night!

This thorough work came as no surprise to another Los Altos cyclist, who replied with his own tale of losing a pricey pannier on San Antonio Road.

"After back tracking several times even checking storm drains with no success, I headed home to cancel my credit cards. I called my housemates to tell them I had lost my ID, keys, etc. and was headed to the Los Altos Police.

After about week resigned to the fact that I would be reminded almost daily riding up San Antonio, I got a call from LAPD who said they found my bag during a routine stop of a suspicious vehicle. Everything was there except about $70 cash."

So, many thanks go out to the Los Altos Police Department for taking the time and effort to reunite desperate cyclists with their prized property.
