SVBC Executive Director talks advocacy at 2009 Bicycle Leadership Conference

On April 16, SVBC Executive Director Corinne Winter was invited to participate on the "Bicycle Advocacy 101" panel at the 2009 Bicycle Leadership Conference. Joining Corinne on the panel was a "who's who" of the national bicycling community, including Andy Clark, president of the League of American Bicyclists, Jenn Dice, government affairs director for IMBA, Jeff Miller, CEO of the Alliance for Bicycling and Walking, and Caron Whitaker, campaign director for America Bikes. Tim Blumenthal, executive director of Bikes Belong, moderated the panel. Corinne was there to provide an expert's thoughts on local advocacy, and reflect on the impact of two pending pieces of federal legislation that would help fund bicycle lanes, paths, and trails nationwide.
