It is with a heavy heart that we share news of a bicyclist who was killed yesterday morning in Sunnyvale at Caribbean Drive and Borregas Avenue, near the SMaRT recycling center and the NetApp campus. We express our deepest sympathies to friends and family of the victim.

New green bike “sharrows” (shared-lane markings) have been installed on Santa Cruz Avenue and Alameda de las Pulgas in the vicinity of the “Y”, a primary bike route between Stanford on the south and mid-Menlo Park on the north that is well-known as being extremely hazardous for people biking. These sharrows are a result of the work of an ad hoc Menlo Park advocacy group as well as the support of San Mateo County Supervisor Don Horsley and the County’s Department of Public Works.

The BART Bicycle Advisory Task Force (a volunteer advisory group) is recruiting new members. The Task Force is charged with reviewing and working with BART to improve bicycle access to and on BART. Membership is currently open for individuals who live or work in San Francisco, Contra Costa, San Mateo or Santa Clara counties.
