Bike Parking & Wearing Many "Bike Helmets" - Kate Plant

G'day there! My name is Kate Plant, and I'm the Community Programs Coordinator for Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC). I've just recently taken on the role of Bike Parking Manager from our lovely Alison Paulin (who's returned to New Zealand). Alison, you are missed!I wear many 'bike helmets' at SVBC. As well as the Bike Parking Manager, I also coordinate & present commute workshops to various enthusiastic organizations, organize Bikepool up the Guadalupe River Trail, and I am involved in teaching our youngsters at various schools across the Bay Area. I enjoy and thrive wearing all of these helmets ?.I want to take this opportunity to introduce our SVBC Bike Parking Team. We have some great Bike Parking Shift Supervisors on our team this coming year including Richard Henderson, Kevin Luong, Tian Harter, Craig Bright, and our new recruit, Fred Miller. Welcome aboard Fred! We are still looking for another few Shift Supervisors, so if you are interested, please submit your application ASAP.Our team can’t do it without all of our AMAZING volunteers, and I’d like to give a huge shout-out to all of those fantastic volunteers who have shown up through rain, cold, and heat to enjoy getting to know the community, park bikes, and partake in a some laughs/witty banter. Thank you Team Bike Parking!!! Last year, we parked around 25,000 bikes, and we hope this year to encourage others (with your help) to jump on their bikes to attend games & other events around our diverse and wonderful town.  Also, we have a few exciting changes that we hope to bring to our bike parking community in a few months including electronic check-ins. How very Silicon Valley! We hope that you'll join us in either helping us park bikes, having your bike parked, becoming a Bike Champion & assisting others to commute to work, or joining us for one of our social rides. We would love to see you out there & get to know you more out in the field, so please stop by and say “Hi”!!!All the best for 2018.Kind Regards Kate
