We are saddened to inform you that Jonathan Pharazyn passed away unexpectedly after a tragic solo bicycle crash, April 11, 2021 on Sand Hill Road near I-280.

Jonathan and his wife Ruth Norris were long-time SVBC and Western Wheelers club members and frequent attendees at club rides and social events, as well as volunteers at the Sequoia Century. In recent years they had spent more time traveling the world and spending time with their family and grandchildren. Jonathan was also a valuable member of the local community, teaching/administering in the Mountain View and Redwood City school districts and acting as a mentor to young adults and known for championing the needs of underserved students. He felt strongly about racism and poverty, and worked as a community organizer in the housing projects to stoke social change.

His always cheerful positive disposition was a bonus to everyone who knew him and he will be missed. Our condolences and love go out to Ruth and his children.
