How are you getting around?
Happy November! It’s hard to believe that it has been over seven months since the COVID-19 pandemic began. You may remember that SVBC released a survey in late April seeking your input on the implementation of Slow Streets. As a reminder, Slow Streets are when cities prioritize some streets for walking, biking, and local traffic so that there is more space for people to move around without high speed cars. SVBC started advocating for these changes early after shelter in place regulations came into place and many cities have embraced the concept. The findings from the initial survey are published here.
After many months of Slow Streets being in full swing, we want to hear about your experiences!
Have Slow Streets influenced your experience in quarantine?
How has your community adapted to having regular Slow Street zones?
What's the importance of Slow Streets to you in a post-COVID-19 world?
If you don’t currently have Slow Streets in your area, do you want them? Where?
As cities explore what the future of Slow Streets look like, we encourage you to reflect on your experience by taking the survey again (or for the first time!) today.
What will the future look like?
While shelter in place restrictions have evolved and we aren’t in the same place we were six months ago, the future could still look different for some time. That is why SVBC is continuing to advocate for cities to think in the new context. Hearing from you about your impressions of street changes helps us to push for things that you want to see.Note: if you don’t have Slow Streets in your city and are still looking to implement Slow Streets in your community, check out this article and contact us at advocacy@bikesiliconvalley.org so we can provide support. You can also join a local team to organize with your neighbors.
