RIDESJ Spring Roll Recap

Click here to see more pictures from the ride. After several rainy weekends, SVBC staff were thrilled to see radiant sun bursting out just in time for Saturday's RIDESJ Spring Roll ride! One of the goals of our RIDESJ series is to bring new riders onto the Better BikewaySJ network and increase everyday use of the bicycle.

On Saturday, April 6, 50 riders rolled into Spring with bountiful energy as we noshed on delicious spring rolls and egg rolls at stops along the route! Riders learned about and explored the Better BikewaySJ network including streets designed for all ages and abilities on St. John Street, 3rd Street and a two-way protected cycle track at Taylor/Mabury. The ride culminated in Japantown just in time for Japantown Immersive, the community's event happening later that evening. How cool to see San Jose Taiko drumming and biking on Taiko Pedi-Cab! What a fun day had by all!

A special thank you to Ride Leaders Ako, Alexa, Alli, Cathy, Maria, and Mercedes for helping ensure the day ran super smoothly. We will be highlighting our amazing team of Leaders in an upcoming blog post!Last, but not least, we are grateful for our community partners!

    • Art Object Gallery - This zen, gallery space owned by artist Ken Matsumoto is a truly wonderful space to relax and take in a variety of beautiful art. Highly recommend another visit to check out their current exhibitions!
    • Roy's Station - A former gas station turned into a family-owned & operated coffee shop which celebrated their 10 year anniversary this year! Roy's is trailblazing an eco-conscious shop with solar roof panels among many other eco-friendly initiatives!
  • Dakao (1st stop) & King Eggroll - It's not a party until you see a tray of eggrolls and spring rolls from Dakao and King Eggroll!

Thank you to everyone who joined the ride! We hope our ride has inspired you to weave bicycling into your daily life and encourage your friends to ride, too.

See you in the Better BikewaySJ network at the next RIDESJ adventure on April 20th!
