New Date: Feb 5th - Make Your Voice Heard For Better Bicycling in Santa Clara

Late Breaking News: The El Camino Real Specific Plan Study Session is Rescheduled: now Feb. 5th, not Jan. 29th.

Santa Clara is busy developing it's El Camino Real Specific Plan. On Tuesday, Feb 5th, the Council will hear an update on the plan. The time of the meeting is not set yet and it is not clear yet if council will voting to advance the plan or simply providing feedback during a study session.

We encourage you to attend to let council members know that you want them to support better biking and walking opportunities on El Camino Real. This is a great opportunity to request improved safety for everyone along this important corridor in Santa Clara by encouraging the Council to implement  'Complete Streets' and make El Camino Real safer and better for everyone by adding protected bike lanes. Some of the Santa Clara El Camino Real Specific Plan Citizen's Advisory Commissioners have expressed support for protected bike lanes, increased safety, and options promoting movement of people during their Dec 17th session

El Camino Real is changing. SVBC is promoting safer bicycle facilities on El Camino Real throughout the Peninsula and we're working on campaigns in Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, and other Peninsula cities.  For example, Redwood City proposed protected bike lanes and relocating on-street parking on El Camino Real in that city’s specific plan in 2017.
