Do you live work or play in Daly City? Now’s the time to pay attention as the city is moving on several important plans to make Daly City a safer and more convenient place to bike.First up is the city’s update for their biking and walking plan. Go to the project website where you can fill out a survey about your concerns for biking and walking and add pins to a map for streets or intersections that need improvements.Want to go deeper? The city is accepting application for the Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, which advises staff and council on how to make a safer community for people walking and biking.Daly City also recently received a grant from the Federal Highway Administration to develop the city’s (and county’s) first ever Vision Zero Action Plan! This plan will help the city to reach the goal of zero traffic deaths and serious injuries. You may remember that SVBC worked with the San Mateo County Health System a few years back to help Daly City pass a Vision Zero resolution. This milestone was also the inspiration for SVBC and California Walks’ Vision Zero Toolkit, to help Daly City and others like it implement the policies. We’ll continue this work, along with the Health System, to help Daly City create a plan that reflects the needs of the community and is based on analysis of past collisions.Interested in helping out?
