Get a Job: Caltrain Bike/Ped Access Planner

Caltrain is looking to hire a Principal Planner (Station Access Programs) focused on bicycle and pedestrian access!  This is a new position for Caltrain and was one of the key recommendations in the Caltrain Bicycle Parking Management Plan.  This Principal Planner will report to the Director of Caltrain Planning and will lead efforts to implement the Caltrain Bicycle Parking Management Plan and other access improvements along the Caltrain corridor.Candidates can apply online at www.smctd.com/jobs.html and applications are due on May 4.

Essential functions:

  • Develop, organize, and implement programs that support Caltrain station access including the Bicycle Parking Management Plan.
  • Develop, coordinate and implement facility plans for bicycle, shuttle, pedestrian and other relevant modes of access to all 32 Caltrain stations.
  • Research collect, evaluate, and analyze data, including field data, related to demand and occupancy of access facilities.

Duties

  • Develop funding plans and requests for the Caltrain Bicycle Parking Management Program.
  • Develop and manage the implementation and/or the adoption of new Caltrain standards and practices for Caltrain station facilities access.
  • Assist project managers and engineers by providing access program input for project concepts through final design.
  • Manage procurement processes for bicycle and pedestrian access -related contracts, including the preparation of scopes of work, financial plans, schedules, and contract negotiations.
  • Develop, update, distribute, and promote Caltrain programs, plans, policies, education materials, and projects to improve pedestrian, bicycle, and other forms of mobility.
