A Celebration Ride with Ride ESSJ

SVBC was thrilled to participate in Ride Eastside San Jose’s Kids Ride by leading a bike safety presentation prior to rolling out with the community for a celebratory ride. The day kicked off at Mayfair Community Center with family-centered activities including face painting by Mama Bear Face Painting who generously donates her time and craft to this program and those kids, helmet giveaways by District 5's Vice Mayor Magdalena Carrasco and San Jose's Department of Transportation, bike repair and tune-up courtesy of San Jose Bike Clinic, awesome volunteers of RideESSJ for keeping the ride safe and together, as well as Sunset680 and Artplace America for sponsorship.
RideESSJ, a local bicycle group who advocates for bicycles in East San Jose, organized the ride with music and costumes to bring families and kids together through bicycling. It was an inspiring way to build community and celebrate bicycles in neighborhoods in which they live while also learning how to ride together and safely through the streets. We have enjoyed a partnership with San Jose’s Department of Transportation Vision Zero San Jose program for several Pedal2Health events. Cordell Bailey has been a pleasure to work with on helmet giveaways, fittings, and helmet safety demonstrations. San José Bike Clinic, located in downtown San Jose, is a fiscally sponsored program of SVBC. The Bike Clinic is a do-it-yourself community bicycle workshop. What’s additionally impressive is that it is run entirely by volunteers. We look forward to continued partnerships with local organizations that help support SVBC's vision of a community that values, includes, and encourages bicycling for all purposes for all people. Special thanks to Justin Triano and his team of hard-working volunteers for organizing a fantastic ride! We look forward to the next collaboration!
