[facebook][retweet]We are happy to spotlight Ginger Bryan, Program Manager at Applied Materials, as part of our regular Member Spotlights series on our blog.  A member of SVBC since 2013, Ginger contributes monthly to SVBC through her Employee Giving program at Applied Materials, which matches her contribution. Are you an SVBC member, and wish to showcase your bike club's work, events, and/or concerns? Contact us!How did you get introduced to Silicon Valley Bicycle CoalitionI joined the Velo Girls cycling club a few years ago and Lorri Lee Lown sends news letters from all the Bike Coalition to the entire group. What kind of activities and/or trips do you use your bicycle for?I enjoy recreational riding. Short 20 mile rides during the week and club rides with Western Wheelers or Velo Girls on weekends. I have also started bike commuting one day a week.Among your friends and people you know who don't ride a bike, what do you think would help encourage them to get out there?Among my friends who do not ride bikes safety is the number one issue. They are concerned about riding on the roads and being hit by a car. Additional communication on areas with bike lanes would help as well as static on how safe it is to ride a bike. What do you think needs to be done to achieve 10% of trips by bike by 2025 in Silicon Valley?More bike lanes that connect together.Share with us what a dream day on your bike looks like.I get up have a good breakfast and head out with my friends. We ride through beautiful county with some challenging hills and lovely meandering roads. We stop at a bike friendly business and buy some lunch and head back home. Every day is a good day to be on the bike. What would you say to someone considering becoming a member of SVBC? And why do you support SVBC on a monthly basis and through your employer matching program?I would encourage folks to become members if SVBC because there is power in numbers and the more people working to create a safer place for cycles the better the chance that necessary changes will happen. I support SVBC because this kind of work takes money. Using my company matching program, I am able to double what is given. Will you join Ginger and the other 2,200 members of SVBC? Join today and support our work to make our streets and trails safe for all users, improve and expand bike infrastructure where you live and ride, and get more people riding!
