Volunteer for Bike to Work Day 2016

May is National Bike Month, and Bike to Work Day, this year on May 12, 2016, is our biggest event of the year. We can't make it happen without your help! We have a few open volunteer positions to support Bike to Work Day and other Bike Month Activities.Volunteer positions available:• Bike to Work Day Coordinators: We have an opening for two Bike to Work Day Coordinators who can help out weekly with poster shipments, t-shirt inventory and shipments, and other general Bike to Work Day and SVBC assistance as needed. These are two volunteer positions. This position will start in early April and each will require a commitment of one day a week (preferably Monday or Thursday), 2-4 hours a day, through mid-May.• Bike to Work Day Coordinator – Day of: We have a need for one stellar volunteer on Bike to Work Day itself to inventory t-shirts and to collect and arrange IOUs. This position will require a commitment on May 12, 2016 from 8am-3pm.• Energizer Station Map Creator: Do you have experience with Google Maps, or another GIS mapping software? We have a need for a volunteer to dedicate a few hours to set up the initial map of Energizer Stations in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. This volunteer opportunity requires only one day of commitment, likely 4-6 hours, in early April.• Outreach Captain: With more than 100 Energizer Stations spread throughout Santa Clara and San Mateo County, we are in need of volunteer Outreach Captains to represent SVBC at these locations. Encourage people to join SVBC by buying a BTWD t-shirt, and share information about our work and programs. A mandatory training session, held before BTWD, will give you all the tools you need. This volunteer opportunity requires availability from 6-10am on Bike to Work Day. Your location will be determined in advance, and based on your preference.• Tabling Volunteers: We have a need for individuals to represent SVBC at the many Earth Day and National Bike Month events throughout April and May in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. Hours vary, but would likely be a 3-4 hour time commitment during the weekdays. The ability to transport tabling materials and travel to event locations is necessary. Training will be provided, and you would have the ability to pick and choose events.• Photographers: There are many great events taking place throughout National Bike Month, and with those events, great photo opportunities. We are looking for photographers interested in volunteering their time and skills for events like Bike to School Day (May 4), Bike to Work Day (May 12) or Bike to Shop Day (TBD).These are great opportunities to have a big impact on the success of this event, and to connect with the organizations, businesses, and people that make up the bike community in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. If you are interested in volunteering for any of the above positions, contact Carlos Velazquez, Outreach Manager, by email or phone at (408) 287-7259 ext. 229.
