SVBC's Bicycle Exchange donates 600 bicycles in 2012

Bicycle Exchange

The Bicycle Exchange program of Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition is pleased to announce the delivery of a record 600 bicycles to non-profit organizations throughout San Mateo and Santa Clara counties in 2012.

The Bicycle Exchange, an all-volunteer program in Mountain View, CA, repairs donated used bicycles at their semi-monthly workdays and donates the finished bicycles to more than a dozen private and governmental organizations with programs to support a wide range of children and adult clients in need.

Volunteer bicycle mechanics provide direction and classes for volunteers from the community, corporate volunteer groups including Google and SAP, and service organizations like One Brick and Hands On Bay Area.

In 2012, the Bicycle Exchange began delivering bicycle safety classes for organizations receiving children’s bicycles.
