Save the date for the Bike Advocacy Summit

Did you hear? SVBC is bringing back the Silicon Valley Bike Advocacy Summit!

I know you thought I was going to tell you we're giving out McRibs, but hopefully a day full of networking and learning about bike advocacy issues that affect us all is more exciting that a pressed meat product sammie of unknown origins and dubious food product credentials. I dunno, just me, maybe.

Anyway, some of you may remember the Bike Advocacy Summit from last year. This year, we're combining the two separate events into a single day at a central location - the Jewish Community Center in Palo Alto. Stanford Hospital is co-hosting the event with us, bringing an important and appropriate health focus to the event. April 17 is the day, from 2:00 to 8:00 pm.

We've already got a great duo of keynote speakers lined up - Randy Neufeld, formerly of Chicago’s Active Transportation Alliance and currently director of the SRAM Cycling Fund, and Aaron Naparstek, founder of Streetsblog and author of Honku: The Zen Antidote to Road Rage. Is that awesome? Yes, that is.

In addition to those two, speakers and discussion panels will cover a number of advocacy issues to help our community members be heard in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. Our hope is that attendees leave inspired, educated, and more well connected, so they can make the most of their efforts to make our area even more welcoming for bikes.
