The Deputy's Diary: January 12, 2012
It's been an exciting week here at SVBC Global Headquarters. I started things off with a very positive evening at the Menlo Park Planning Commission as it fielded public input on the Facebook EIR. The next night, I called in to my first meeting as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Bicycle Coalition. As a member of that distinguished group I'll be participating on the Advocacy and Events committees.
I worked normal office hours yesterday, which gave me time to catch up on my to-do list and talk with Pete van Nuys, Executive Director of the Orange County Bicycle Coalition, who was visiting us for the day to see how our office works and discuss best practices. It's always nice to meet people who are familiar with the same challenges you have and often have advice on solutions. Corinne gave me the night off while she attended a meeting of the newly dubbed San José Bike Clinic.
Tonight, Corinne and I will be staffing the first-ever SVBC Palo Alto Team meeting. If you ride in/around/through Palo Alto, consider joining us for dinner and some advocacy talk with local cyclists. There's a concurrent meeting for South Palo Alto residents to discuss the Draft Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. If you're a South Palo Resident, interested in the future of cycling in your town, head there instead and join us at next month's meeting.
Tomorrow I get to spend some serious time updating materials that go into a packet for our Board of Directors. It's not the most exciting chore, but it's a good chance to review our goals and recent achievements. After that, it's time to celebrate Friday! Looking forward to the weekend...
