SR2T call for projects

The Safe Routes to Transit grant program is pleased to announce the call for projects for its fourth cycle. SVBC encourages everyone to make sure your city and/or transportation authority is aware of the opportunity and is applying to fund an active transportation project. If you know of a proposed project that deserves SVBC support, please email colin@bikesiliconvalley.org and tell us about it.

Funded through Regional Measure 2, the $20 million Safe Routes to Transit (SR2T) Program strives to reduce congestion on Bay Area bridge corridors by improving access and safety for bicyclists and pedestrians to and from regional transit stations. TransForm and the East Bay Bicycle Coalition (EBBC) administer this program with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC). Public agencies are encouraged to work with other potential co-applicants, and with other departments or divisions within their own agency, to submit multi-jurisdictional/multimodal project applications. $4 million are available for awarding in this grant cycle.

Applications are due at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, August 8, 2011.

Please visit http://www.TransFormCA.org/campaign/sr2t for more information about the Safe Routes to Transit Grant program, including FAQs, awarded projects from previous cycles, application, budget worksheet, etc.
