Get involved at the 2011 National Bike Summit

Federal funding for bicycling is facing threats in the new Congress. Our allies in Washington have warned the cycling community that programs that fund bicycle safety could be completely eliminated.

You can play an important role in helping to convince our congressional delegation that investments in bicycling are smart transportation policy. Consider going to the National Bike Summit this March 8 through 10 in our nation's capital.

A strong California presence at this year's National Bike Summit offers the best chance to impress upon Congress the importance of safeguarding valuable federal investments in bicycling. When you attend, meetings will be arranged between you and your congressional representative. You'll also enjoy fantastic networking and gain insight into the national bicycle advocacy movement at two days of informational sessions.

The Bike Summit is also a heck of a lot of fun. The bicyclists who travel all the way from California make up the biggest delegation at the summit, and we throw the biggest party!

The sooner you sign up, the sooner your meeting in the Capitol can be arranged, so please register today.

Please call the California Bicycle Coalition at 916-446-7558 if you have any questions, especially if you are represented by a Republican whose party controls the House in this Congress.

Register for the Summit at the website of the League of American Bicyclists.
