East Palo Alto Family Biking Workshop

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fb1u1_aK-kkOn September 23, 2014, Families from East Palo Alto gathered at Joel Davis Park to enjoy a day of bicycling and fun during a Family Biking Workshop and Bike Repair Day. Through a partnership with the City of East Palo Alto and the East Palo Alto Police Department’s Fit Zone, SVBC was able to lead a family biking workshop where adults and youth learned how to ride their bikes safely for recreation, transportation, and fun. Participants had the opportunity to get their bikes inspected by mechanics from the Bay Area Bike Mobile. Many bikes received a full tune-up, while others just had some air put in their tires. Many participants also took part in a 4-mile bike ride, and two lucky attendees went home with a new bike won through a drawing. Nearly 50 youth and adult helmets were also donated to those that needed one. These workshops are made possible in part by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission's (MTC) Spare the Air Youth grant.Want a similar workshops in your community?
