Redwood City Plan Will Bring Bike Lanes to El Camino Real
After a yearlong advocacy campaign, SVBC savored a big win last night when the Redwood City City Council voted unanimously (Masur abstaining due to recusal) to approve the El Camino Corridor Plan. The Plan lays out a vision that could transform Redwood City’s stretch of the Royal Highway from a high-speed commercial strip into a corridor where people can safely and comfortably walk, bike, and enjoy a tree-lined boulevard with a strong sense of place.
8 80 Cities Brings New Outreach Toolkit to San José
Last week was a whirlwind of activity for supporters of complete streets, open streets, parks, and transit in San José. Gil Peñalosa and his team from 8 80 Cities descended upon the Capital of Silicon Valley for a “San José Public Life Summit,” to meet with movers and shakers, skeptics, and undecided residents and impart upon them Gil’s infectious enthusiasm for all things people-centric. The visit gave SVBC's San José Protected Bike Lanes campaign a shot in the arm, as we worked with 8 80 Cities and the City of San José to conduct some valuable public outreach along a corridor slated for safety improvements.
