A beautiful day for a ride through San José
Many thanks to Adam at Greenbelt Alliance and Beth with CommUniverCity for involving SVBC in last Saturday's Cycling through San José bike tour. I had a great time. I was happy to see that almost half the group lived in other towns, so they learned a lot from our informational stops along the way.
A step closer to bike lanes on El Camino Real
We have big news out of Mountain View to celebrate this week. At a February 5 study session for the San Antonio and El Camino Real Precise Plans, City Council directed planners to study the feasibility of removing parking on El Camino to make space for a bike lane.

Two years ago, I rode in the Climate Ride of California. Now, I am a full-time staffer at the organization for which I raised funds in the first place. It sounds serendipitous, but please continue reading about how I went on one of the greatest bicycle tours of my life, raised money for the cause, and found myself pursuing my passion.
Huge turnout at El Camino Real Precise Plan workshop
On Saturday, January 11, the City of Mountain View hosted a public workshop to describe and solicit community feedback for the El Camino Real and San Antonio Center Precise Plans. There is clearly interest in the two projects: over 100 people attended the 2.5-hour workshop, including members of environmental, transportation, housing, and equity organizations, as well as citizens who simply wanted to learn more and have a voice.
UC Davis report on chip seal and bike ride quality
UC Davis has recently completed their study on the quality of chip seal and treatments to improve it. This report has impacts on our campaign to improve the surface quality of Highway 35/Skyline Boulevard, which was repaved with chip seal in 2013.
