Summer Kicks into the Big Gear! North Fair Oaks Bike Rodeo

On Saturday, June 9, the Siena Youth Center’s  Bull Dog Riders led the 5th Annual North Fair Oaks Bike Rodeo at San Mateo’s Flood Park - their largest community event of the year. The Bull Dog Riders showcased their leadership skills through event planning and community outreach, helping Rafael Avendano, Director of Siena Youth Center, coordinate over 15 sponsor booths and support various bike-themed activities.Everyone was given a “passport” in which to collect stamps from each sponsor’s booth. Those who visited all of the booths were entered into a raffle, with some very lucky children (and adults!) winning new bikes! SVBC enjoyed running the basic bike skills course, doing something near and dear to our hearts – teaching kids and adults about the benefits of biking and how to ride safely. Other awesome bike-themed activities included a miniature pump track, blender bike station, bike mechanic station, and CHP booth, to name a few. SVBC staff was excited and privileged to collaborate with the Bull Dog Riders youth leadership team and Siena Youth Center staff in making this community bike rodeo a big success!
