Countywide School Bike Rack Decorating Contest | Santa Clara County
April 24-May 12
Calling all Elementary, Middle and High Schools to participate in the Tenth annual Santa Clara County Bike Rack Decorating Contest in celebration of Bike to School Day on Wednesday, May 3rd! The contest will run from April 24th - May 12th. Take a picture of your school’s decorated bike racks and enter to win bragging rights and a trophy until next year’s winner. he first 20 Santa Clara County schools to register will receive a bike rack decorating contest starter kit.

Different than in previous years, this year we'll look at some murals at the very beginning of their creation through the Conservancy's Artist in Residency program. Community partners from Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition will be present to make sure our bikes are in good condition, show us the rules of the road, and share information about their work for safer streets in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.

Ride around Downtown San Jose and Willow Glen, all the while stopping at gyms and Poke stops to battle, show your Valor/Instinct/Mystic pride and continue to catch ‘em all! All ages are welcome.

Bike to the Moon Week | Santa Clara County
May 15-21
This is a week-long event where students, families, school staff, and community members track their active transportation miles or minutes with the goal of collectively “biking” all the way to the moon, which is 286,900 miles away. This includes biking, walking, rolling, and learning about bike safety. The first 20 schools to register will receive a box of 150 bike lights to use as incentives for encouraging biking to school. SheJumps x Sports Basement - Basic Bike Mechanics Workshop | Campbell
May 18 | 5:30-7 pm
Get your bike ready for Bike to Wherever Days! The workshop will consist of a 60-minute session covering the ABCs of bike mechanics including how to change a tire, how to check your brakes, and how to lube and check your chain. This will be followed with a Q+A, so come ready with questions! We'll round out the hour with some discussion about the basic gear you need on the road with examples: helmets, lights, lock, and a basic repair kit. If time permits we can also talk about more advanced skills such as the different types of brakes (disc and rim) and their adjustments or how to adjust a rear derailleur. Each ticket will include two beers from Montucky Cold Snacks. Additional beer will be available by donation. Don't forget to bring your ID!

Pledge to Ride - Bike to Wherever Days | San Mateo and Santa Clara counties

May is Bike Month, and you, your friends, and your family are welcome to ride with us on May 18, 19 and 20 for Bike to Wherever Days. When you pledge to ride, you’ll receive a free Bike to Wherever Days 2023 tote bag on the weekend of the event, and you will be entered into a random drawing for giveaways. You’ll also be kept in the loop about Energizer Stations in your neighborhood and SVBC's Bike Bash celebration taking place in your county. Riders at any skill and age are welcome.

MTI Research Snaps Webinar: Cycling Past 50 | Online

Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI) is investigating the habits of older adults who cycle with the nationwide 50+ Cycling Survey. Year 5 of the 50+ Cycling Survey will begin soon, and you can be a part of it. How can our growing understanding of older cyclists affect policy, programs, design, and practice? Join us to discuss health and mobility and to dig into ways this information can be used by engineers, planners, advocates, and more.
