SVBC is hiring a Bike Parking Shift Supervisor to manage bicycle parking on scheduled days at public events. This position will include full responsibility for setting up outdoor bike parking corrals, ensuring security of bicycles, delegation of tasks to bicycle parking volunteers, and solving problems as they arise. If you are effective at operating in a service-oriented position, and passionate about improving our world by making bicycling easier for everyone, this is the position for you!
Responsibilities will include:
Inventory materials needed for each event
Transportation of materials by bike or car to and from SVBC office in downtown San Jose
Manage bike parking corral volunteers on-site
Communicate with other bike parking supervisors and bike parking program manager regularly
Supervise bike parking corral at events
Ensure vigilant security of corrals
Manage inquiries from corral users and/or direct to Manager
Track corral usage and donation amounts at each event
Enter usage and donation amounts into a spreadsheet for each event to be utilized for future planning
Effectively communicate the mission, vision, and programs of SVBC to corral users
Ensure that all corral users have a top quality customer experience
Respond in a timely fashion to SVBC staff to sign up for work shifts
Qualifications
Previous experience delegating tasks to volunteers
Comfortable transporting, loading/unloading, and staging tote boxes, tables, chairs, canopies, and other bike corral materials
Familiar with QR codes and spreadsheets
Ability to communicate within a team to achieve the greater goals
Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Able to lift 50 pounds
Access to cellphone
The right candidate for SVBC's Bike Parking Shift Supervisor position will:
Be willing to work in an outdoor environment
Be able to work evenings and weekends
Be responsive to communications by text or email
Compensation
Hourly rate of $25. This is a part-time position offering up to 3 eight-hour shifts per month, usually on weekends.
