Unknown person killed while bicycling on Monterey Rd on Dec 23. The sixth bicycling related fatality in 2020.
Unfortunately, SVBC is sharing the sad news of a bicycle related fatality this holiday season. Our condolences to the friends and family members of the person killed.
On December 23 around 7:30 pm, police were called to Monterey Road and Palm Avenue in South San José. A person riding a bicycle was killed after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, according to San Jose police. No further details have been released.
A 1996-2000 gray or silver Honda Civic is being sought as police investigate the hit-and-run case, which is the city’s 45th fatal traffic collision and 46th fatality of 2020.
Police say the suspect car is missing the passenger side mirror and has front end damage. Anyone with information for SJPD traffic investigators can contact Detective Mike O’Brien at 408-277-4654.

Monterey Road is one of the seventeen Priority Safety Corridors in San José where the city is focusing near term efforts as it strives to achieve safer roadways.
