Member Spotlight: Patricia Mackenroth

Patricia Mackenroth, an avid Silicon Valley bicyclist, recently passed away. Her legacy and love of bicycling are being honored through contributions from her loved ones to SVBC.

Patricia, a resident of Silicon Valley for 30+ years, did many of the popular rides in and beyond the Valley, including up Mount Hamilton and Mount Diablo, and over to Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz.

With her husband Mack, she particularly enjoyed long-distance loaded touring: bicycling the Pacific Coast from Eureka through Big Sur to San Luis Obispo, and circumnavigating the Trinity Alps. In Europe, the couple once rode from Oslo, Norway, to Vienna, Austria; and they conquered many climbs in the Alps and Pyrenees, including those made famous by the Tour de France, such as the Col de Peyresourde and Col de Tourmalet.

Patricia rode her bike in Asia, too, through the Tohoku region of Japan, and from Shanghai to Nanjing in China. She preferred bicycling over any other type of transportation.

SVBC would like to thank Patricia’s friends and family for their generosity and thoughtfulness during this difficult time.
