Volunteer During National Bike Month 2016

May is National Bike Month, and Bike to Work Day, this year on May 12, 2016, is our biggest event of the year. We can't make it happen without your help! We have a few open volunteer positions to support Bike to Work Day and other Bike Month Activities.Volunteer positions available:• Volunteer for SVBC's Free Bike Parking: Valet bike parking is one of many ways that Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition encourages people to bike to public events. We need volunteers to receive attendees' bikes, watch over them, and deliver them with a smile for the following: Sunday, May 1 for Japantown San Jose's Nikkei Matsuri, Sunday, May 15 for the Silicon Valley Bikes! Festival, May 18-20 for Google's I/O developer festival, and May 22-24 for Maker Faire Bay Area. Register for a shift in the links, and then enjoy the events for free after volunteering!• May 8, Sports Basement, Sunnyvale - Bike to Work Day Luncheon: At the luncheon, all Santa Clara County Energizer Station hosts will be picking up their materials for bicyclists on Bike to Work Day. We are in need of volunteers to help us set up for the luncheon and load materials.• May 12, Bike Away From Work Bash, Women's Club, San Jose - The Bash is a relaxed, fun event to conclude Bike to Work Day. There will be beer, food, music, and friends. To put on this great event we need your help! Volunteer for a shift, then join the party!• Bike Away from Work Bash Bartender: We need a licensed bartender to serve beer at the Bike Away from Work Bash on May 12.• Photographers: There are many great events taking place throughout National Bike Month, and with those events, great photo opportunities. We are looking for photographers interested in volunteering their time and skills for events like Bike to School Day (May 4), Bike to Work Day (May 12) or Bike to Shop Day (May 21). Interested? Contact us.These are great opportunities to have a big impact on the success of this event, and to connect with the organizations, businesses, and people that make up the bike community in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. If you are interested in volunteering for any of the above positions, register using the corresponding links or contact Carlos Velazquez, Outreach Manager, by email or phone at (408) 287-7259 ext. 229.
