Spring and Summer bike parking
At SVBC we strive to increase bicycle access to almost everywhere – the workplace, school, recreation – and spring and summer events are no exception. There is definitely nothing better than taking a nice bike ride to a fun event and finding secured bike parking when you arrive. In order for us to make Bike Valet Parking accessible to guests, we need your help to make it all happen. Please review the list of events below where we will be providing bike parking and let us know when and where you would like to help out. Everyone who has done bike parking in the past knows that it’s a lot of fun, and if you haven’t experienced it before, come on out and see what it’s all about.
Canary Century Ride – May 28, 2011
Help us support the Canary Foundation as we provide bike parking for their first-ever Canary Century on Saturday, May 28, as they seek to raise funds for the Stanford Cancer Center. Volunteers for this event will receive a $10 gift certificate for Sports Basement.
We'll have three shifts available:
10:30am - 1:00pm
1:00pm - 3:30pm
3:30pm - 6:00pm

Sunset Celebration Weekend – June 4 & 5, 2011
Sunset Magazine puts on this annual event featuring the home and garden activities and demonstrations that Sunset is famous for. To make it as environmentally friendly as possible, they are encouraging guests to bicycle as well as use public transportation, so they have asked us to do a bike valet. But we need your help to make it all happen!
Sign up for a 2.5-hour shift and receive a free pass to the event worth $16.00.
We have three shifts available Saturday(6/4) or Sunday(6/5):
9:30am – 12:00pm
12:30pm – 3:00pm
3:00pm – 5:30pm

Tour de Cure – June 12, 2011
This bike race and ride is put on in Palo Alto by the American Diabetes Association to raise money to fight diabetes. They are expecting over 1500 riders who will need a place to park their bikes while they relax after the rides
The following shifts are available:
Saturday, June 11 (setup)
11:00 am to 12:30 pm
Sunday, June 12
11:00 am to 1:00 pm
1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
3:00 pm to 5:00 pm

If you are not already an SVBC member, you will receive a 6-month complimentary membership. Volunteers will also have their names entered into a drawing to win a $25 gift certificate from Sports Basement.
