Paris Public Bikes

I am lucky enough to be in France and England for nearly 2 weeks for my summer vacation. Those of you who know me well know that while I sometimes travel around, I rarely actually stop working, since my job with SVBC is so engaging. This is one of those rare trips when I’ve decided to cut my contact with the outside world and focus on enjoying myself as much as possible.

And enjoying myself I have been! I spent the last 3 days in Paris. I’d never been there before. What an amazing city! I love it, and the best way to get around is certainly by riding the public bikes. We tootled all over the place, mostly up and down the Seine, visiting Notre Dame and the Louve and all those things—but mainly just enjoying the outdoor cafes and bicycle riding. One observation about the Paris bikes is that they are really, really heavy. Like 60 pounds or something. I had to carry mine up just 3 steps at one point and wow--I nearly broke my back.
