Public Bike Share

Lots of people have been talking this year about installing bike sharing systems in various places around Silicon Valley. SVBC staff stepped in to host a round table this week to pull everyone together in order to discuss a regional approach, because we’d like to see the same system implemented up and down the Peninsula.

Attendees included representatives from VTA, Caltrain, several cities, SVLG, and many interested businesses. Everyone was extremely enthusiastic about moving forward, and the two VTA board members at the meeting (Members Kishimoto and Liccardo) vowed to write a memorandum to initiate a short study at VTA to determine how best to proceed.

SVBC gives a big thanks to VTA staff for their leadership on this groundbreaking initiative. After they get the ball rolling, SVBC will then meet with other agencies up the Peninsula and around the bay to insure implementation of the same system throughout the region. Caltrain is committed to assisting our efforts in this area, as well.
