(More) Free Bicycling Education classes

Get ready for Bike to Work Day by taking advantage of the free upcoming traffic skills classes being offered by Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, City of Mountain View, and City of Palo Alto. Whether you’re a new cyclist who wants to learn the rules of the road, or an experienced rider who would like to become more confident while bicycling along with traffic, these two-part classes will teach you all you need to know to ride safely.

Classes:
In-class: Traffic Skills 101
This 3.5 hour classroom course will cover the basics of riding safely and confidently in traffic. Learn how traffic operates and your legal rights and responsibilities on the road. Other topics will include choosing a bike, fitting a helmet, and checking that your bike is safe to ride.

On-road: Traffic Skills 101 (Part 2)
Practice what you learned in the in-class part 1 course. This on-road course follows a comfortable progression onto city streets, beginning with a short review of the lessons from the introductory course. Riders will learn how to change lanes safely, cross intersections, ride at night, use public transit, and fix a flat.
