To help facilitate the roll out of shared bikes and e-scooters in San Jose, the City’s Department of Transportation is holding a two-part event where attendees will be able to both pilot the “latest craze in urban transportation” and provide feedback to city staff on proposed regulations for bikes, scooters, and similar devices. (Check out the city’s resource page on e-scooters.)

As you may have heard recently, nearly 1,800 complaints regarding e-scooters had prompted San Francisco City officials to ban them from sidewalks until a new permitting pilot scheme can be put in place later this month.

However divisive e-devices may be, we support City of San Jose’s efforts to tackle the new policy reality presented by these disruptive transportation technologies, as well as welcome its outreach to the community on devising solutions for improving and addressing safety of all roadway users.

If you’d like to know more, consider joining us for what will surely be a lively discussion about emerging mobility options and transportation in the downtown area.
