Good it is, Bicycling to School

Spring time has been a busy bike time for many Bay Area schools. During the months of April and May, the SVBC education team has taught bicycle and pedestrian safety education to over 1200 students at nearly 20 Santa Clara and San Mateo County schools .In addition to providing classroom and on-bike education, SVBC has also helped schools organize after school Family Biking workshops, free bike repair, helmet giveaways, and bike rides. On May 4th, many schools also celebrated National Bike to School Day by promoting bicycling and other forms of active transportation. In Gilroy, Las Animas Elementary organized a Star Wars themed Bike to School event which also included a bikepool ride on the way to school. Brownell Middle School also celebrated the day by promoting walking and biking as well as organizing an after school bike rodeo.
We would like to thank our partners and sponsors for helping make many of these activities happen, including: Specialized, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Bay Area Bike Mobile, Shifty USA, Santa Clara County Public Health, Gilroy CHP, and the San Mateo County Office of Education.
