Santa Clara County passes revised events ordinance

SCCThe Santa Clara County Special Events Ordinance was passed by the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, August 24th. This revised ordinance now addresses all of the concerns raised by the VTA/County BPAC, and SVBC. SVBC wishes to thank County staff and the Board of Supervisors for working with the bicycling community and revising the ordinance to make it a law everyone can live with. The ordinance applies to county roads in Santa Clara County and requires that special events that close the road, require special traffic controls, or place a structure on the road must obtain a permit. Events where all participants obey the California Vehicle Code are exempt from permit requirements, but events with more than 50 participants are encouraged to notify the County Executive so that he or she can alert residents or others who may be affected by the increased traffic.
