Residents come out to help select a preferred plan for the Diridon Station Area

About 90 residents came to San Jose City Hall on August 7 to help decide how a future Diridon Station Area will look like. One of the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition's main areas of advocacy is helping to shape the future of this rail hub and its surrounding neighborhoods.

Colorado town's complete ban on cycling draws national attention

Bicycle Colorado will be staging a rally on the steps of the state capitol this evening to bring attention to the complete ban on cycling in Black Hawk, a small town 45 minutes west of Denver. According to Maggie Thompson of Bicycle Colorado, "Black Hawk is the only community in the country that has enforced a complete ban on bicycling."

Cupertino portion of Stevens Creek Trail to reopen to cyclists and pedestrians

Good news broke out in a late night session of the Cupertino city council. Last night, at around 11:30 PM, the Cupertino City Council adopted a resolution and voted to deny a petition by residents on Scenic Circle who wanted to prevent access to the park's trails from their neighborhood.

Federal funds are coming to local bicycle projects

The Metropolitan Traffic Commission (MTC) will be distributing Federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds, to be used in part to conduct Bay Area bicycle infrastructure projects that are on the Regional Bicycle Network (RBN). Safe Routes to School (SRTS) projects in the Bay Area have recently gotten a shot in the arm.
