Stanford mitigation funds update

I just got back from a meeting of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, where I spoke in favor of two bike/pedestrian infrastructure projects that would benefit significantly if approved to be funded through decade-old mitigation money from Stanford. As is often the case, the outcome was mixed, but mostly positive.

UPDATE (5/17): SVBC has learned that Board President Shirakawa has included the language “Request received from President Shirakawa to continue the hearing to date uncertain. This request may or may not be approved pending Board consideration of Item No. 4, Approval of the Consent Calendar and Changes to the Agenda.” This is, in other words, an attempt to shelve the vote on funding these bike... read the whole note.

I'd like to thank the SVBC members who attended Liz Kniss' press event this morning, where she officially announced a proposal to invest $5 million in the Adobe Creek Bicycle/Pedestrian Bridge over Highway 101 in Palo Alto and $3 million in the Dumbarton link to the Bay Trail in East Palo Alto (a project SVBC advocates have been working on in conjunction with our Facebook campaign).
